Military spouse and Gosport businesswoman Joanna Murchie has won the award of Best Success Story in The News Woman of the Year Awards 2013.
The navy wife and mother of a 3 and 5 year old won the award for her company CV Essentials and its subsidiary, Military CV Services.
Formerly a senior executive in the film industry, Joanna gave up her previous career when her children came along, and has since been determined to prove that there IS another way for mums to return to work without compromising their family life.
CV Essentials was launched in 2011, followed by Military CV Services in 2013. As a Forces wife herself, Joanna understands the unique challenges faced by those leaving the military, as well as those married to the military. In May 2013 she was appointed the official CV consultant to Recruit for Spouses, an organisation that specialises in supporting military partners in finding employment. She has also been featured numerous times as a “go-to” CV expert on BBC Radio, and writes regular articles for the various armed forces family magazines.
Joanna said “I am delighted to have been recognised for my achievements since giving up my previous career. Helping others succeed on their own career path is something I am deeply passionate about, especially those connected to the armed forces. Six years ago I was flying around the world climbing the corporate ladder; I would never have predicted then that I would be named as a Woman of the Year. Running a business from home requires a lot of hard work, dedication and some very late nights, and it is a great honour to receive this recognition.
